After lots of thinking and now moving into our house, it looks like im gonna have to sell Star, more for finacial reasons - I have a big debt from a car accident and cant find any other way to pay for it

Soooo heart breaking decision....

Can you help with the ad:

16.1hh 9yr old Bay ISH Mare - Excellant Allrounder/Riding Club Horse, competed BJSA, double clears BN and started Discovery, winnings of £35. Excels dressage and in the short space of time competing has won or been placed at every Prelim/Novice test, achieving scores of 62-78%. Has been XC and sponsored rides, jumps all things. 100% to shoe/load/handle and really sweet mare. Comes complete with full wardrode of rugs/GFS Saddle/2 bridles and other bits. Sadly selling up due to financial reasons. Please contact for further details.

Any ideas guys??

Oh she sounds lovely, what a shame to have to sell. Ad sounds good to me, not that I know that much about advertising! Just wanted to say she sounds really nice!

Real shame you are selling her

Personally I'd expect to pay around £7500 Max with all her stuff, you might get more as it's a good time of year but £9k is too ambitious I would say IMO....

Sorry

Big ((Hugs)) from me xx

As for a price id say around £8k, but i might be well off the mark.

ETA - just seen your reply, id ask £8.5k and be prepared to go down to £8k

I'm so sorry you have to sell, she sounds like an amazing horse

I'm hopeless with prices, but about 9k sounds reasonable to me.

Such a shame you are having to sell. Hugs to you.

Re your ad I'd put her in for £9500 - you never know you could end up kicking yourself for selling her too cheaply and you can always come down in price but never up.

Good luck and I hope you find the right home for her.

Such a shame, sounds like a lovely horse

Only thing would say about the ad is that uou have written BJSA instead of BSJA pretty minor point though

Whoever ends up buying her will be a very lucky person

Oh no hun - I cant believe you're having to sell her after everything that youve gone through.
YOur ad sounds great and truthful. With the recent huge prices I think you should out her up for sale for about £9k and expect to come down alittle but especially as shell be going with her full wardrobe! Either that or put her up for sale for £9k and say wardrobe to be negotiated.

Good luck. I hope if you do sell her you find a 5* home for her.

So sorry to hear that, can't imagine how difficult it must have been to come to this decision

Personally I'd go for £9-9.5K with room to come down for the right home. Good luck with it.

Just been stuffing my face with fish and chips with work lol..

Thanks guys for advice - gonna sit and talk to OH properly tonight and decide what to do. Either that or he said he will get a loan to help out bless him!!! Just feel like i'd be letting Star down by not keeping her...I remember the horse whisper said to me that Star wanted to stay with me for life and would teach my children to ride....:(

She is lovely and I am so sorry you are having to sell

That said, I am afraid I do no think she is worth the prices being bandied around. I presume the dressage she has done is unaff? You say "100% to shoe/load/handle" - this would immediately make me think she was not 100% in traffic, with vet, etc - so careful with your wording there. I take it she has never hunted? Does she hack alone?

I would price her at £6.5k tops.

Ooh good point RE bits i missed lol. She is fine in traffic and great with vet, dentist all things like that. hacks alone although same days she can have the odd spook etc. Never hunted cause im a whoosh but im sure she's be fab!!

Yes that dressage was unaff but just affiliated now and first test this week, will see how we go

Thanks.

Hmmm...sorry to hear you may have to sell her
frown.gif

I can only go by similar stock that I know has recently been sold, but a friend recently purchased a 7yo version of your horse who has a BE record as well as similar BSJA record, and they paid 6.5k
tongue.gif

I also know pretty much what my 'friendly' dealer would charge, and it wouldn't be anywhere near 9k i'm afraid
frown.gif

I'd say ask 7k but don't expect people to be knocking your door down in the rush....sorry.

Thats such a shame. Will you get anything else or go horseless for a while??

she sounds really nice! I think I'd advertise her for about £7k.

I would go with 7k and have tack as extra.

I found selling my mare very difficult, although her BE record and unaffiliated sjing and dressage was good, ppl would rather pay the money for a gelding with less form.

Ie a girl and i were selling two identical horses but one was a mare the other a gelding but his form wasnt a patch on my mares. However, she had a wait list for her horse i only had a handful of enquires.

Good luck, shes lovely

Well i'd be selling for money reasons so couldnt afford to get another straight away or next year etc
frown.gif
Other option is to loan her out for a year or so, so that frees up more money a month...that way she's always around??

ummm, not sure I'd like to do that, I suppose you could if it was someone nice who you could trust. Good luck with whatever you decide!
