Looks , personality or just designed for the job? Why that horse?

yeh agree that you would look at the horses head as part of its confirmation goes hand in hand but if its got a huge white face not everyone would class that as pretty even if its head is perfectly proportioned to the rest of its body see what i mean!!!!

I knew I wanted a TB, or type, and a decent size, (17hh) ex racers I like because a) can be cheap b) make good riding horses, and hey presto, that's what I got!
Colour wasn't important however I'm not overly keen on greys, love dark bay and got a chestnut (which I am more than happy with!)

Love him to bits!

funny you should say that i would have a grey if it had dapples or looked like snow but i would never want a flea bitten grey dont know why just not keen, not even if it was perfectly suited to what i wanted it for.Dont mean to put anyone down who does have one so sorry if it offends anyone but you can get your own back as i love arabs and i know they are not everyones cup of tea.Im loving reading all your replies,i suppose if we all liked the same there would a lot of homeless ponies so thank god we all different. Good job know one else finds brad pitt attractive means i can have him all to myself ha ha ha Hey we can all dream!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we must have clicked, as when I went to see Harley, I was with a riding school owner friend of mine, and we were pretending he was for me, as she didn't think the owner would sell to a riding school.

The owner, the RS owner and me all rode him, and I hacked him up the road. He was only five, and only 50 feet from his yard gate was SLOW written on the road. Well, Harley stopped and looked at it, I swear he nodded at each word as if he was spelling it out, then I reckon he said 'slow, I can do that!, come on then!' and off we went. Driving home I said to her 'are you going to buy him', 'no, too green and not enough bone'. Out of the blue I said, 'I think I'll buy him'. I had no premonition that I would say that! The RS owner made me try a few other horses, but Harley was the only one for me, he was my first horse, I'd never even had one on loan before. That was 1997, I still have him now.

So, looks, personality or designed for the job - don't know, he was just the right horse for me.

When i started looking for a youngster to bring on i would go through horse h&h and horse deals and everything i liked was in Wales or Scotland .I phoned my friend at the arab stud just five minutes down the road from me looking for a chestnut arab filly with four whites and a blaze.I was gutted when he said there was nothing but i got a part bred colt if your interested,i laughed at first then he said just come down and take a look anyway. Well he was hairy and gangly with eyes that looked like they belonged to a frog but i looked past that and could c that somewhere under the thick foal coat was a elegant strong little man. He was a real rough diamond a real boy with no manners but i knew for me he was the one he even looked like he was wearing eyeliner the way i wear mine and i bought him the next day.I do believe in fate and in this case i think are paths were meant to cross,so glad they did!!!!!!!!!!
