Ok so as you know came of horse Tuesday night, anyway decided last night i was gonna get back on (against docs orders) anyway, put her on the lunge and she went loopy.. bucking squeeling.. charging snorting, I couldn't hang on.. sore shoulder etc.. so OH took over.. again the same.. she pulled the lunge through his hand,, (now has sore fingers) he let go and she went off round the school.. charging about and finally stoped with a picture operfect vertical rear! (like the ones out the movies).. I was OMG! i've got to get on her!! anyway. I calmed her down.. and eventually got on her..

I just have to say that Betty is normally very placid to be ridden. I have now taken away her hard feed, in the hope that she calms down..

So anyone elses horse gone stupid ???

Please can I have sane slow horse back.. don't think my shoulder & back can take much more

Yep, got one of those ATM, come off twice in four weeks! ( not rearing/bucking just spooking!) Been to the local Feed merchants today for advise by well knowledge people; Lady suggested corn oil ( she is at uni studying) she says it helps them relax, and high fibre cubes with added water; nothing else!

Sore fingers is a slight undertstatement, one finger is big n blue all over the the other is missing loads of skin and the horse well............
I she may well yet end up having an appointment at that glue factory

not that i could when she gives me big sad horse eyes like last night (after shed calmed down)

well if she don't start behaving calmers may be the way to go! am just so shocked as its so not like her! I mean I know sometimes she can be a Typical Chestnut mardy mare, but never like this before!!!!

I've got a Chestnut Mare which im havin problems with aswell he he. She was, like urs, lovely and calm to ride but now i can't do anything with her because shes spooking so bad and is so anxious, thought it was the food and the grass but noticed she dipped a bit when i was brushing her back last week so i got the saddle fitter (checks backs too) out asap and he told me my saddle was tilting backwards and her back is very sore so ive got a spinal therapist coming out next week after shes had a complete rest.
Not really convinced it will sort out all of the recent bad behaviour but im hopeful, feel a bit bad for just thinking she was being naughty now

Spring fever!!
When was the last time you had worked her before you lunged her?
My mare is always stupid to lunge if she hasn't been worked for a few days, she bronks, bombs, bucks. After she has that out of her system she lunges well or I can get on her.
Maybe stick to lunging or freeschooling until you know she has chilled?
