Little George has been on antibiotics for the last couple days following a choke episode. He has started to have loose droppings, is it anything to worry about?

Unfortunately antibiotics can kill off the good bugs as well, I’d get him onto a good probiotic and hopefully that will help. I’ve had good results with Protexin gut balancer, their quick fix is decent as well. I’m sure others will have some ideas too.
Get well soon George!

When paddy was antibiotics I was told it can cause loose droppings but not to worry unless he was literally poo’ing water

Quite normal to react like this. They should return to normal a few days after he finishes the course. No point adding pro-biotics until then, anyway.

@marmalade76 just spat my tea out!! 😂

Op, if he has to stay on them for much longer let your vet know and see what they say. Antibiotics really upset their gut biome, even if they don’t get loose droppings they smell horrible. I always give protexin quick fix after a they’ve had a coarse just to kickstart the healthy bacteria production again.

It’s trimedziate, he is always on gut balancer anyway as he tends to have loose droppings / FWS. Course just ended and he is feeling good!IMG_8776.jpeg
