Little coblet has come down with a case of the runs!
Droppings are quite loose, bit like a cowpat but can still just see the shape so not entirely watery!

Not sure what has caused it, hes had a few apples which he would normally never get and hes hardly been turned out since Thursday.

He gets half scoop sugarbeet, alfa a oil and yearling mix which hes been on since I got him early last year so it cant be that.

He seems ok within himself... still trying to pinch my hat!

Just wondering if anyone had tried putting a cup of plain flour in the feed?

Thanks.
Is it easy to get? Were slightly snowed in so everything has to be within walking distance haha.
Got plenty flour in though!

'pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake', sorry couldn't resist....!

Seriously, never hear of flour helping with the runs, but if on a livery yard, does anyone on your yard have Pink Powder as that can really help?

I dont think id dare ask for a lend of a sweeping brush never mind pink powder haha.
Hopefully itll all be out of his system shortly :)

Hes on haylage

Take him off this, pop on hay for a while. Could be that this is the cause. Perhaps a slightly more potent bale? I would definately switch to hay, add something like protexin to balance and stabalise the gut. I would also just as a precaution check his temperature in case it is something viral, but my first port of call would be gut balancer and switch to hay.

Is he normally in? you say he has not been out since, I would get him out in the field moving around to promote gut movement, and ensure he has access to hay in the field too. It may be that being stabled is not aiding the situation.

Hes normally out from 7am til 3ish but because of the snow im not allowed to turn him out.
I have been putting hin out whilst I mucked out but just on his own.
Unfortunately I only have access to haylage.

Its not as if he gallops round like crazy when hes out, he just stands there munching, as do the others so I cant see a problem in them all going out even if its just for a few hours but it all falls on deaf ears :(
