Hope someone can help me. I've a pensioner friend with a small companion dog - I think he's a Yorkie cross. Anyway its a long story but his hock joint is very loose in its socket and has slipped out a few times (it then usually slips back in by itself). She has had him to the vets but the medication he was put on didn't help so she has lost faith and won't take him back (very independent lady, won't accept help or advice off anyone!)
Anyway I haven't come across this sort of injury before and was wondering if any of you had any suggestions I could slip into the conversation, or any supplements you could recommend that I could get for her and "just happen to have in my bag" for her to try him with next time I see her. He is on painkillers and his leg doesn't appear to bother him, although i'm sure it does.

Anyway if any of you are outraged by this, please don't shoot the messenger, I'm just a neighbour looking to help out the faithful pet of a lovely old lady if I can - so any suggestions or advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance x

I imagine in fact you mean his stifle joint? And the patella slips in and out?If so ,it is very common in that breed, they seem to live with it very well,so treatment ..which is surgical and expensive ..is not needed really.
