ok so it wasnt a proper motorway i guess but it was the a329m in berks which is a very busy almost motorway!! Was driving to the yard this morning with my friend and we noticed loads of traffic all of a sudden on the other side of the road, and a coloured cob came cantering along the fast lane!! It was so surreal!! If I had been on the other side I would have stopped but I couldn't, really praying it was caught before it came to any harm or caused an accident

I caught a horse last week when it was really freezing, on the way home from the yard. Several peeps stopped but couldnt get near her. We got a headcollar out of the car and caught her on the second attempt. I stuck the Jeep almost in the middle of the road with the hazzards flashing to make sure the traffic had to slow down. Even then we got some idiots pushing past!
The mare was in a field with 11 others including her foal who was shivering! We told the owers when they turned up that the foal needed a rug or shelter as it was very young and shivering. They ignored that so we called the rspca who didnt even bother going till it was too late!! Foal died because they let it down and the owners dont give a stuff!! Disgusting.

owners like that make me sick they shouldnt be allowed to keep them it dosent take much to put a rug on feed extra hay and keep fencing secure

I did contact whw, took them a week to reply to my email, even worse than rspca at least they made it the next day. Still too late though! Wont bother with either in future.

I called the rspca from a mobile at the side of the road, they said they were going, then didnt. If i had known they were not going i would have got a rug from somewhere myself. I contacted the whw the next day when rspca said they hadnt been.

If you want to know if the horse was OK, you should call the local police as someone, probably a driver, will have notified them of a horse on the loose.

As a life member of the WHW I would be obliged if you could give me more information on this incident (time date, location) so that i can take it up with the chief executive of WHW. They should have responded to your E-mail immediately and I am disgusted that it took them a week.

when youve quite finnished pulling me appart i DID phone the rspca on the night from the side of the road and only contacted the whw the next day when they failed to respond. Its not my fault the foal died its the owners an owner who is a forum member.
