New poster here - just looking for opinions please...
I promise to keep it brief (I hope); I am a fairly experienced horse-owner and have kept my horse on this "yard" - farm, basically - for 13 years. New people have arrived - various family members and three rather bedraggled and slightly naughty ponies (13 - 14hh). We haven't interacted much apart from a couple of occasions; they have not seen the need to be friendly, preferring to only speak to one another. Getting to the point - on a couple of occasion last week, their ponies "got away" from them and galloped down the (public access) footbpath and onto the yard.
They had been bringing them in just hanging onto the headcollars and these ponies know that they have food in their mangers so are being a bit bolshy. The owners are by their own admission novices but will not ask or any input (quite the opposite).
On the first occasion, I caught the pony as she hurtled past and handed her over saying nothing. On the second, I caught the mare again and started to round up the bigger gelding; the man appeared and before I could say any more than "How did that happen?" I was bawled out like you would not believe - full volume rant including swearing, insults and threats. The "wife" and one of the teenage children joined in.
Should I not have said anything do you think? (I have a real problem with avoidable accidents after assiting at the scene of a fatal [horse] accident on a Bank Holdiay Monday a couple of years ago...) The verbal attack came totally out of the blue and I am still quite upset by it - but don't want to be leaving after 13 years.
