I am wondering if this is utterly mad or if it would let baby pony get used to the sound better? Since I have a long term goal of one day attempting dressage to music with him. That does exist, right? It isn't me being feverish again?

He is already used to myself and other people singing around him, and has heard the radio. So in theory, loose schooling him to music would seem the next logical step...

Anyone ever done this? Is there a code of conduct regarding what you can play if using an outdoor school? I am guessing nothing too loud, but are any types of music forbidden/preferred?

<eyes music collection, somewhat concerned...>

I school my veteran pony to music ridden, via an ipod and speaker in my pocket. We both enoy it and it gives a good vibrant rhythm to ride to. I ust use Gypsy Kings - Dire Straights - some classical.

For dressage to music comps - you have to abide by the music licensing laws. I understand if you have the free BD membership this enables you to play music publicly which is necessary for competitions.

You would use music with no lyrics and with a bpm (beats per minute) to suit your horse.. I think it's a great idea to play around with free schooling - it will give you a good idea of what music suits him.

Thanks, I will have to invest in something to play it on! Acoustic only then. Pony will be pleased, as this rules out The Fox Song...:D I have odd taste in music, lol.

I must look into the legal side of things too.

I school my young lad to music playing on my phone in my pocket, i find it really helps get a rythem :)

I to aspire to do dressage to music lol ( my cob has other ideas eg gymnastics to music ;) ... interesting though lol)

I think loose schooling to music is a great idea .
