I have an increasing suspicion that I'm a really lop sided rider. The stirrup bars on my saddle are attached by leather. About two months after I got my saddle I had to have the leather replaced and we assumed that it was just faulty leather. Now the right one is starting to stretch again making my stirrups uneven. Does that sound like I'm uneven? How can I tell if its me or Daisy that's crooked? Any tips for levelling out my legs?

well usually its the rider that is lopsided and that sends the horse lopsided, we're all a bit lopsided naturally but you need to concentrate on getting your weight a little more evenly distributed, think consciously about how much weight you're putting in each stirrup then try to stay even, it will take a while to retrain yourself but if you persist you should get there. would of course recommmend seeing an osteopath to make sure you're not restricted on one side!!

I had alot of osteopathy as a teenager following several bad falls but it kept making me ill and so I stopped. After my first session I couldn't get out of bed for four days, it was like my body shut down, really odd. I went to two different osteopaths who tried working round these reactions but it just never worked for me

eek doesn;t sound very nice a tall, can;t say i've ever had a patient that couldn;t get out of bed the next day let alone for four days! Perhaps try doing some yoga or similar to see if you can release any restrictions that way-start gently though ptherwise you won;t be able to get out of bed!! make sure you stretch well before and after riding. you do find that osteopaths all work differently so one approach may not suit but another does etc. doing other things to regain good balance is also a good idea, some sort of work on a wobble board may help to improve your proprioception and help your body be more aware what its doing when you're riding.
