You can PM me for full information, but she was my local fitter and the person who originally tried to do a fitting to Jack. I contacted the company to make a complaint about her afterwards and ended up with david doing my fitting
I can highly recommend Julia Duffin - not sure if she would travel all the way to you, but she did travel 2hrs to do my fitting for my dressage Wow this week. I can PM you her contact details if you like
If not then David - he was going to come out to me if Julia couldnt make it.
I had a fitting for a WOW saddle last week (different fitter) and was very impressed. My horse is very hard to fit and makes his feelings quite clear by napping or bucking when he dislikes a saddle. He really loved the WOW and was very soft and swinging through his back. Can't wait until my saddle is ready.
For those of you with WOW saddles. How easy it is to change the flaps? I have ordered a dressage but would like to get additional flaps to use for hacking. They are expensive and wasn't sure whether it would be worth buying a second hand GP saddle for hacking or the extra flaps for the WOW
Yes please any WOW users - I am contemplating a GP moveable block, with the idea of rotating the flap for dressage/jumping. Either that or get a synthetic Isabelle, and jump saddle.
Love the idea behind WOW - my saddler says they are heavy though. Plus I was concerned that the WOW fitters aren't really fully experienced before becoming WOW fitters...?
Changing the flaps is very easy, it only takes me a couple of minutes now. At first I'd struggle to get the thread right, but once you know the angle of the hole it's very simple.
Once you get a well fitted wow you won't want to put a diffrent saddle on your horses back, let alone a second, possibley not a perfect fit one
The "Swiss Army Knife" Wows are heavy and I found them like sitting astride a gate. I have the Wow club which feels (and looks) like a normal saddle, but still has the adjustability for fit.
My saddler is a master saddler and trains and examines other saddlers in UK and the US. I was only the 2nd Wow that he fitted as he would not carry them until their quality matched their price ticket.
He was so pleased with the fit of my Wow, that when he got back to base, he ordered 5 new ones for stock. He is Scottish, so parting with money is a big event!
I heard lots of stories about WOW being heavy - a concern since my horse is over 17hh. However they are no more heavy than a normal leather saddle. A synthetic saddle may be lighter, as the wintec isabelle I currently have is, but its not that much of a difference and certainly not a factor that woud make or break it for me. The new WOW's have an aluminiumm plate that is very light, so I guess the new ones are even lighter than the old ones.
Thanks for the advice air79 - think I will be getting GP/jumping flaps for my new saddle in addition to the dresssage ones. The seat is a deep seat for dressage but will be fine to hack out/do light jumping in. Very expensive when you add it all up but well worth it and much cheaper than getting 2 nice leather saddles. My horse is SO hard to fit but he adores the WOW and I loved it too as so many options that I could get one just right for me.
Where possible I would always get David from WOW out to fit, he is that only one that can on the spot strange alterations to fit (my horse had to have a rearranged girthing system!)
They are heavy, but the magnesium headplates and synthetic stirrups can make a difference.
