Anyone had to get new lorry batteries? Mine needs two new ones following frost damage.

I've got the ref numbers for it - 627/637
12v 140AH 760A

I've been looking at costs online but I don't know what all the numbers mean - what is the difference between 140AH and 120AH?

I want decent batteries that so last but ideally at a reasonable price.

Anyone know a good supplier or can tell me what brands to look for?

Thanks in advance🙄

i buy off ebay. Heavy duty lorry batteries are usually around the £100 mark. As you've got a 24 volt system, make sure you get them with the posts in the right place. They usually arrive within 24 hrs. Go for one with a longer warranty though. I think the higher the AH, the better it turns over in cold conditions.

Definately speak to the supplier and take a photo of your set up...battery terminals are often in different locations on the battery themselves and hence you need the same type..
The numbers that you referred to equates to 12 volt types. 140 a/h means that it will supply 140 amps per hour which means it’s internal charge... hence a 140ah battery is better and supplies more power than a 120ah one...
The 760 a refers to the constant cranking power on start up...I.e your battery can supply a kick of 760 amps on start up...

In short the higher the numbers the more powerful the battery and the better it will be to supply power for starting the lorry on a cold morning...

Don’t buy cheapest as it is often a false economy....go for a good premium brand like Varta or Bosch which will be far more reliable over the longer term...

They are approximately £100 each for a cheapy or £150 each for a premium battery...

Hope this helps...

Varta and bosch used to be top of the range but frankly ,they are now mediocre at best. Mostly ,its how you look after a battery . High charging rates after a difficult start knacker batteries quickly.

Also worth Googling local commercial vehicle factors and calling them, often good value and delivery within the day..
