Is your lorry 12v or 24v - think Halfords only do 12v not sure they have them big enough - we always buy from a specialist battery shop that does lorry and agricultural machinery

I think their Heavy Duty Leisure batteries would do the job- not sure for certain.
I worked there for 7 years and can't remember any of it

A leisure battery won't be much good for starting your lorry.....they're designed to deliver less amps for longer, whereas a starter battery has a much higher cold cranking amps rating, but will go flatter much quicker !
I would go to a specialist commercial lorry place for a new battery personally...
When I tried to get one from Halfords they didn't have one and weren't particularly helpful, so I ordered it from an independant car parts shop. The last one I got was from an agricultural specialist and they were so helpful and it was actually cheaper. Sorry that doesn't really help much does it?
Sounds like it might be 12v - mine is 3.5ltr deisel engine and it takes a 12v - yes you can get this from Halfords but I would get one from an independent stockist if poss (htey will be able to advise you)
yes your batteries are 12V, try your local MAN, DAF, Iveco, mercedes etc truck dealership, ask for service dept, they will have them in stock and tell you how to fit them too, its dead easy - honest!
umm , and also maybe its worth while seeing why they are going flat! cos if you have a "drain" or an alternator problem ,then new batteries will last no time at all.( just a thaught)
I just bought a battery for my lorry. I got the number from yellow pages online and searched under commercial batteries. I think it was £120 unfitted (lucky for me, YO fitted it)
i agree, its the little red tacho light ( which the ministry love still to be intact and working on MOT - even tho horseboxes are tacho exempt!!!) which can drain the battery, i would maybe suggest getting an isolator switch fitted, quite cheap to do , but you will always be able to start your lorry, and taking the isolator key with you when lorry not in use "immobolises"(sp) the vehicle too .
as long as you can easyily get to it batteries are really easy to change if you have two spanners at hand!!
I had to disconnect mine a few weeks ago hoping it wasn't completly dead but when reconnecting it next morning it was so got a new one now. Can't remember cost but it was a VERY heavy b***er
Just an update. Thanks everyone. Spoken to mum and she is, as always, wonderful! She is going to go and buy me one tomorrow and then, my equally lovely brother, is going to fit it tomorrow eve and look over the lorry at the same time!
I got a new battery about 2 months ago for my lorry (12v) it cost £55 inc vat, it was the same size battery as a 24v lorry would take but they have 2 of them! It comes with a 2 year gauranntee which means you can take it back and get a free one it it stops working.
If you do a tacho - i wouldn't have thought in a 3.5t you would have just take the fuse out to the tacho when you have it parked up.
