Hi,

I have a 16.3 and my husband just bought a 17.2hh. We have outgrown our Equitrek trailer as the horses look pretty cramped in there. I want to get something to give the horses a bit more room, so I think we are probably looking at a lorry or box. I'm loathed to get rid of my Range Rover so to compromise I would like a lorry or box with a decent level of comfort in the cab, if possible. We don't need sleeping accommodation but room to take everything for two horses eventing.I have an old licence. Ideally, I think a 4.5 tonne would do but am after advice as never looked for lorries before. Any suggestions would be gratefully received please?

I have a Bloomfields and am very happy with it. The van based ones will never be as comfy as a Range Rover though. Mine does have sat nav, air con, fancy seats, cameras, is automatic, but, no, not Range Rover standard.

Also be aware that the backward facing ones are all only about 6'6 wide for two horses to share.

Mine has 8' headroom, is longstall, and I made the length longer too.

The Bloomfields have a waiting list, but some come up secondhand.

True, if you only need day living hopefully you can max out on storage space. You should get around 1.7/8t payload depending on the fit out and how much kit you have. I’ve got a Freddie Gover 4.5t and I have taken a 16.1 and 17.2 and they fit pretty well although it’s always gonna feel like a lot of horse in a 2 stall. I wonder if you’d be better with a 7.5t which would give you more options, more space and payload. I suspect any lorry cab isn’t going to feel as smart as a RR though.

Freddie Gover does a nice 7.5t that is a bit more compact but very roomy in the horse area.
