Hi am in the process of getting a newer horsebox

my current one is a D reg ford cargo 813 and is about 20' long. The new box is a R reg leyland and is about 26' long. Dad is stressing that I will find this more difficult to drive, what do you think? I'm quite happy driving current box and reversing it too.

oooohhh, you kept that one quiet Sue! I should'nt imagine you would really notice much difference? Why not take it for a good test drive to make sure?

so come on, what make is it? Piccies please!! And when should we meet up again (obviously need to see it in person!!)

The brakes may be sharper and you may not be able to judge the extra 6 foot when reversing but bit of practice and you'll be fine

Am going to have a drive of it the beginning of next week. Checked the unladen weight and with a ton of horse feed in the back and it comes in at 5.7tons

didn't want to say too much until I'd got it

Going for its plating on Tuesday so will come with 12 months plate

When sorted will get some photos and will arrange for another meet at Somerford if you're up for it?

i doubt you'll notice much difference, as long as you allow for the overhang and never swing in sharply anywhere without taking it into consideration... says the person who did...

oh, and if the length is in the overhang at the back, beware driving over ridge and furrow and ripping off the rear water tank.... says the person who did...

We used to have an 18' box but it was written off in an accident and we replaced it with a 28' one. The first time my dad drove it he knocked down the YO's wall because he forgot it was longer (both bedford TL's so the cab was identical

) so just keep reminding yoursefl that you need to leave more room!

from a local guy. got a nice luton, 3 seater sofa that goes to a double bed, cooker and grill, hob, sink and fridge, lots of cupboards and a wardrobe, cut through cab, skirt lockers and plenty of horse area
