OH has been trying to fix the electrics in a friends lorry. Now, he is a trained electrician but only in domestic properties so not an expert on lorries.

She has recently changed the cab on the lorry and the problem is that the cab uses 24v electric where as the living uses 12v. Now I dont even understand the implications of this but how do you get around this? Any ideas? He currently has the living wired up and working but doesnt think its safe to leave it on for a long period of time. Are there any professionals out there with any advice? The reason he offered to do it in the first place is she cant find someone that specialises in this area.

yes its quite simple you have 3 choices first 2 will work if its just a few lights and not pumps heaters and full living option 1 change the bulbs and electrical bits to 24v ones.opt 2 buy a 24 v to 12v dropper
if there is full living and its going to be used for overnights and has water pumps etc then its best to have a seperate 12v batery just for the living you can take it of and charge up at home, fit a charger to the lorry that works of a mains supply hook up or there are chargers that do 12volts from the 24 however this needs the lorry engine running,so not very handy unless its doing a lot of miles, hope that helps a bit.. you can get stuff from www.durite.co.uk
