Hello, I was wondering whether anyone in the Derbyshire region was out and about competing in dressage? I have a 17hh ex-racehorse that I am retraining and I am hoping to start getting him out and about over the next few months but unfortunately don't have any transport. I am based at Hargate in Hilton so can do some competing without going out anywhere but have qualified for the ROR Trailblazers Dressage Final at Stoneleigh and would like to start showing him some other places to get him used to the idea. He is quite a lively type so patience would be appreciated and would obviously need a box suitable for a horse his height. Ideally a 'nanny' type horse to look after him. If anyone is interested in a share I would obviously pay a fee. Please get in touch with me if interested. Thank you x

Sorry I've not got capacity to take another, but I know where you are based quite well. Have you tried hacking to Barleyfields to give you another venue and more options? You could then hire transport for any finals etc like stoneleigh. It wouldn't be too expensive just for a couple of times a year.

Hello, thank you for coming back to me. Yes I will more than likely be heading to Barleyfields in the not too distant future with a hacking companion - will need to test his tolerance to the underpass under the A50 (quite low ceiling height for a 17hh!). Very lucky being based at Hargate but would like to get out a couple of times prior to heading to Stoneleigh so he can get his head around travelling and working. Would even consider sharing for training sessions so that he gets used to it. Thank you again x

Most of them seem to get used to the underpass. I used to hack under it regularly, and have been under other similar ones on horse back in other areas too, they seem to mind less than you expect.

Would love to help but we are a bit far away, hargate tends to be the furthest south we venture
