Currently on the phone to nfu and have been for half hour and im beginning to lose my paitence. All i want is a quote for a 3.5 tonne lorry to driven by a 20yo. Gave them all my details and my dads (will be insured on it too) and because I dont have an exact registration as I havent chosen my lorry yet they cant do it. So theyve wasted half hour of my life, half our of my phone bill and half hour of valuable lorry searching time!

Rang drayton before as advised by some other hho'ers, gave minimum details and quoted me £373 which I think is very very good. They stated that it will be the same price as long as you do below 5000 miles, the lorry is below £15000 and it doesnt matter on the age. I know drayton do not do no claims bonus but the time ie dealt with nfu, became an angry customer and wanted to hang up I dont care that much if its going to be £3y73 or less each year.

Could I have any hho'ers opinions on either of these companies and which one you would choose. Thanks.

Find an ad online of the sort of lorry you want (engine size, mileage, age etc) and give them the registration, that will give you a rough idea of costs

When you find your lorry contact them with the reg and ask them to redo the quote before you commit to buying though!

Well i was going to do that but i was becoming so impaitent anyway, and then he said that he has to go at 12.30 as thats the time it closes so either way i wouldnt of achieved anything or than waste half hour.

I have just paid for my ins for 3.5 lorry, it was 300 for any driver over 25. But 2 year ago it was over 400 cos my groom was only 23 then . There are some benefits to getting older!!
It was through shearwater.

I'm with Drayton and they have been brill. I haven't had to claim, but my premium has gone down every year i have renewed it, and when i first got my lorry they were by far the best value for a 21 year old trying to insure a 7.5ton lorry.

Just moved my renewal away from NFU, they were so rude on the phone and I've dealt with the same office for the last 15 years! Anyway never used Drayton, but ended up saving a lot of money via Julie Andrews insurance, who have put me thru Equity Red Star, I'm significantly older however! But i did like the service and the fact she did the shopping for me.
