Lorry is booked in for its test in a week or so and typically the lorry ramp broke over the weekend. I didn't think this would matter in regards to the plating (ramp is up and completely safe, just not usable for a horse), step dad seems to think it might be a problem.

Could anyone clear it up for me?

(it's my first lorry/plating so haven't got a clue what I'm doing!)

I've taken mine for quite a few years and they have never looked at the ramp. If its up like normal you will be fine :)

Have fun driving it over the pit with people in, it's a bit

I have taken my lorry the last three Years and have never had to put the ramp down. So as long as there is no damage to the body work sure it will be ok

Never been asked to put the ramp down. If they do ask you for some bizarre reason; you'll fail and just have to represent when it's mended (assume you are going to get it mended ;))

Great thanks all, that's one thing at least  (bl00dy lorry!)

I'm trying to persuade my step-dad to take the afternoon off and take it for me, I don't want to have to do it  :o

You should brave it! I have no worries with driving my truck anywhere but driving it over the pit with men going about their day to day tasks with a man waving you 1" to the right so you don't fall in and squish them all is a bit :eek::eek::eek:

It's alright though.....honest!!!

Humm, you really sold it to me, thanks ;) :D

Pahahaha :D

Just don't look down... It really is ok, just move really slowly and the guy at the front will guide you. The "left a bit right a bit man" has always offered to drive it over the pit for me too so that's always an option.

It's fun playing with the lights, wheel and stomping on the brakes when on the rolling road (whilst batting your eyelashes at the man in the hope that helps you pass...ok....maybe that bits a bit rank but its mostly an ok experience!!)

:):)

Horse area does not form part of the test. They will not check your ramps or floor (in horse area). The only bit of the horse area that could fail you, is bits of string left tied to side or loose body panels.

The guy directing you is resposible if you fall into the pit (of doom) so just do exactly what he says and nothing else. It will be fine . I have taken hundreds if not thousands of lorrys for their tests and never seen anyone fall in ,but I have to say I still dot like it .Remember to wear your High viz vest too. Check ALL your lights ,there is nothing worse than failing for somthing stupid like a light bulb or no screenwasher fluid. You should take it in ,you will learn a lot.
