Lorry prices?

We are starting to look for an upgrade on the current model, and I think I have found my perfect lorry, but unfortunately with not eno0ugh saved up yet! However, my gut feeling is it's over-priced, so can anyone who knows about these things give me an idea?

It's a DAF 55-160, 13 ton, W reg, MOT, taxed, fairly posh living but not all-singing all-dancing, 4 horse, newly painted (in horrible colours IMO), tilt cab.

Does anyone who has recently bought a lorry or is onvolved in them feel they could give me an estimate of what it's worth?

Around £18-20K?

Stab in the dark as i don't really look at prices of HGV's.

I must say that when i was looking recently there were a lot of over priced lorries and I suspect a lot of them sit on the market for a long time!
 
Hmmm, it's a lot more than that. I don't know the mileage, but I'm guessing the price is what it is because of the chassis age, I think it will be one that can be modified to comply with the new law coming in nwxt year about emissions in Greater London. I thought by going HGV I'd get more lorry for my money as the 7.5t are still so popular.

) cost us 30k on a 1995 chasis 5 years ago.
The prices havent changed much since then.

I would have thought if it was a newly built body etc (regardless of tacky colours lol) it would be around 35k-45k only because HGV tend to be slightly cheaper.
However, if it was a named brand ie Oakley, Whitaker, Olympic etc these can go for up to 70k + even with bog standard living.
 
Not really enough information to give an accurate price.
You say it has been newly painted but I'm assuming that it is not newly built ? Most self respecting builders wouldn't use a chassis more than a few years old.
What is the mileage on the lorry ? Although these are quite capable of doing huge mileage it does affect the value, also has it been a horsebox since new ?
I have recently been looking at 12t 4 Horse boxes but new build. Maudsley & Prestige are at around £90k - £95k plus VAT with a new chassis & the chassis makes up around £28k plus VAT of the price. These are new builds with luxury living, generator, separate shower etc with underfloor storage.
Obviously Oakley / Whittaker would be a lot more.
Various other builders would be a lot less.
If it was not built by a high value builder & assuming that the box was say 4 years old & therefore the chassis was not built on new. Then I would put a price of around £35k.
One further thought is that a 160 may be a little bit short of pulling power.
 
I would say it must be near £30k if not more. I've just bought one at a real bargain price and would have paid up to about £21k for it and still had a good deal so yes they are £££ at the moment!
