I have a Leyland roadrunner 813 with a cummins engine.

The clutch went a month ago and this has been replaced. It also had a full service a month ago.

Today after I drove it (2 hour journey) I parked it up. I wasn't happy with the way I parked it so I wanted to start it again. However it was having non of it, it turned out fine but wouldn't start. I carried on and did the horses, unloaded the lorry and though I'll just have another go at starting it. Well it did start after my hubby forced it to with using cold start - the engine was far from cold but it did start. I moved the lorry over and turned the engine off. As I got out of the cab I thought I could hear water. I stuck my head under the right wheel arch and could definitly hear water running through pipes BUT there was no leak under the lorry. My husband heard it as well It lasted a good couple of minutes and could be heard from the left side too.

I described this to my mechanic and he has no idea what could be wrong from my description but is going to try and come out and have a look tomorrow.

I have no idea if it is connected but since I have had the clutch replaced I have to wait for my air brakes to charge, even if I leave the lorry for an hour. This didn't happen before as I could leave it at the show all day and the brakes would still be charged at the end of the day but now they had to charge after leaving it an hour. I described this to the mechanic and he said that it is not connected and that I have got an air leak but not to worry about it as long as it is chargeing and keeping the charge while running - which it is doing.

Any idea's what may be wrong?

I have a Leyland Daf 150 and it does the same thing with the brakes - not a problem unless you want to use it as a get away vehicle :)

Starting - could it be your fuel pump? I had a similar problem with a dirty fuel filter?

Eekk just read my post and should have checked my spelling before submitting it!

The mechanic asked me when I last fueled it up and I said 2 days ago so maybe he is thinking along the same lines as fuel filter.

As for over heating my temp gauge didn't indicate that it was overheating and I checked the fluid levels on Saturday and the tank was full.

Hopefully he'll make it out tomorrow as I need to use the lorry on Wednesday.

Yes most likely someone hasnt tightend things(pipes) up properly so when you leave it standing the fuel runs back to the tank because air is getting in though a loose or leaking joint !!!! on the brakes it should hold most of the air presure for at least overnight it may be unsafe to drive as if it loses presure when you are driving because the leak worsens either the brakes could fail or more likley the hand brake will come on and leave you stuck at a junction ..do not use it untill a good mecanic has checked it over ......

My lorry had the same problem, would start fine and then if I tried to start it when the engine is warm, wouldn't start. Sadly it's the fuel pump, either dirty or needs repairing

The brake thingy. Do you release the air when you leave it. I think you are supposed to and that is probably a bit mucky and letting air out. If you clean it up it will probably reseal
