Hi
Was wondering what other people have security wise on their lorries? Mine has an imobiliser, but no alarm etc I was talking to someone today who suggested a secret switch that stops the fuel or cuts out an essential area so it cannot be stolen.
Any ideas welcome, thanks!

Mine has an immobiliser and alarm, central locking as opposed to key entry, and when parked up has a wheel clamp and a steering lock on it. Basically, I make it as hard as possible to put people off of even trying!

Most insurance companies now insist that you have an isolator switch. One thing to watch out for is if they can put your ramp down and then just walk straight into your cab.

Ours has a tracker and I think there's a chip in the key so can only be started with origional keys. Our battery isolaters have always been outside the vehicle so more for keeping battery from going flat than security.

Ours doesn't have an islolater (although is due to get one sometime) but we detach the battery - mainly so the taco doesn't run down the battery - but this does immobilise it!

[/ QUOTE ] How old is the lorry??? if its post 2001 it should have a chipped key and will be hard to steal.. pre that say an iveco you would just have to smash the steering lock off and you could start it with a screwdriver

so anything like a isolator or taking a battery/s off a clamp on the hand brake, wheels or steering wheel etc will slow a criminal down

if its on your own yard you could get posts put in a driveway hope this helps

I learnt from bitter experience that a fuel cut off switch doesnt stop a lorry from being stolen.

My next one is on a newer chassis with a chipped key, it will have isolators, cut off switches, a tracker and be kept in a much more secure place that previously.
