Losing mane when rugged

Firstly, apologies. I know this subject wqas covered recently but I can't find it.
My mare loses part of her mane when wearing her Mark Todd outdoor rug and neck cover. Anyone find a rug/neck cover that doen't take bits of mane out.

Have you tried her in a lycra neck cover for her to wear under her rugs? That may help.

never had a problem with my combos, didnt like removable neck covers as found they all rubbed

My mare lost the bottom half of her mane last year when wearing MT Full neck, no problem now with detachable. Mane grew back tho

Happens to jigsaw every year, whatever rug i use on him. Alisha's mane is fine though! Someone once told me to put baby oil on the mane so the rugs slipped over it rather than rubbing it, don't know if it works though cos never tried it!

I always end winter with only 3/4 of a mane. Combos or detachable make absolutly no difference to mine sadly. I was going to try some snuggy jams from the snuggy hood people to wear underneath but never got round to ordering any :|

Luckily hes grey so even when plaited up, you tend not to notice his lack of mane quite as much as say, a bay

My YO cut all the neck covers off her Stable Rugs as they ruined her horseses manes.

I have the same problem using the Fal Commander and the Rambo Duo on my horse. I now only use the neck portion on the really wild days to try and save some mane to hold tightly onto during those scary moments while mounted!
