As most of you know ive been looking for some time and having and enquired and viewed lots i still havent found 'the one' well i have but there is something that i cant compromise on ie doesnt hack alone or they are not for sale!!

My OH announced the other night that he is divorced to Horsemart, Horsequest etc lol bless he keeps saying it cant be that difficult to find a horse.....bless if only he knew!!

Do not feel the need to reply i just needed to vent my frustrations somewhere and i symphatise if anyone else is in a similar frustrations

What exactly are you looking for?

Im looking for something 15-15'3hh preferably ID X Conni X, definately no pure TB's (no offence to anyone) - Need something sane and sensible, must be good in traffic and used to farmyard equipment / machinery.

Horse will be used for some schooling, hacking and to continue my lessons. Not looking for a jujmper but someting that could pop a jump in the school if i wanted. I am not looking for an all singing all dancing superstar, just something that is calm, has a personality and enjoys human company.

What exactly are you looking for? And what has been wrong with the ones you have looked at so far?

I can understand your frustration but are you being too fussy? My best horses have been the one's I took a chance on and ironed out or accepted their little problems. Good luck with your search.

:)I know hun im getting so disheartened now but its probably me being too picky but then this is my first horse following my riding accident 10 years ago so i really need to tick as many of the boxes as poss!!

Im trying to stick to the south west as id like to see the horse a couple of times and take my RI with me so looking as far as wales, gloucester into dorset and down Cornwall im based in Devon.

Yes i prob am being too fussy but as i was saying to CD this is first horse since a riding incident and i need to be relatively sensible about my decision to ensure my confidence is kept!!

Problems have been wont hack alone - must for me as small yard and not always the option to hack out with others. Health issues one turned out to have annular ligament damage, one i tried rushed into the jump and then took a small jump like a 5 bar gate, couple dodgy dealers, differing stories, didnt click with horse ... i must sound awful but im really just searching for an uncomplicated fun horse!!

There is no nice way of saying this but you have been looking for such a long time and you really need to crack on, the summer is coming, whooooo! and you're going to miss out on all the fun of a new horse if you don't get a shifty on!!

Look outside the box. Go and look at everything. If you choose what yu will go and see led by the wording in the adverts, you'll overlook some really great horses.

How many have you actually been to try so far and why?

I saw a very sweet little horse out hunting on Saturday that is for sale. Its not very big probably about 15.1hh. I am not sure of any other details other than it was very well behaved out hunting and is a little bay mare looks like a welsh x. Nicely put together and snaffle mouthed. It is in Somerset (J22 of M5) and they want about £2.5k for it. I know the owner and she does things properly so going to guess it hacks etc as all theirs do.

I know how you feel!! but hopefully may have my next neddie soon. Its been suggested to you before and Ive not dealt with them but keep going on their website have you tried Equine Agents?? Or is it too far for you??

Hi LFC - Ill PM you my details

I know how you feel I'd been looking for what felt like forever (about 3 months!!) checking numerous websites daily turns into a big obsession. Think I seen about 10-12 in the end before I found the right one but I've now had my boy home for 5 days!!!

is dorking, surry too far? theres an irish sports horse mare,15.2,6years,coloured ref.no.24375 in hacking horses, horsequest. sounds like the sort of safe type you are looking for. i know you want to look a couple of times but sometimes the good ones arent local....good luck with your search..

I know a really lovely coloured mare for sale, 15'2, 11yrs, not heavy, lots of class about her, calm and a really nice person, has hunted and was very sensible, hacks alone or in company, moves beautifully, just a really lovely girl, if I could have her I certainly would. In somerset.

I totally sympathise - I spent ages looking before I even saw anything that fit the bill to try.

I put a 'wanted' ad on a website over here, and it worked an absolute treat - I got about 30 phonecalls within the first week from people selling all sorts of horses... obviously not all of them suitable, but an awful lot of them weren't advertised so I wouldn't have been able to judge. Maybe it's an Irish thing selling horses by word of mouth more than advertisement though!

As it happened the boy I found to be my perfect match (fingers crossed the sale goes through ok!) I saw in a 'for sale' ad, but it doesn't take away from the fact that I would have had far fewer horses to view without that wanted ad. Maybe worth a try?
