This is their job! To make it so painful you give up, sadly you have to really fight them to get what's right.
Send everything by recorded delivery.
Keep a record of the name and time of everyone you speak to on the phone.
Hound them on a daily basis!

most of all - don't give up!

Sounds like an admin error at their end - ie someone hasn't noted on the system the form's been received. Do you have copies? I would ring again and tell them when you sent it, how you've already been told it's accepted and you've had part of the settlement. Therefore they have to have had your form! I don't know who you're insured with but remember some people there may not be that experienced in what they are doing so, if you feel you're not getting the right service or answers, ask to speak to someone else. It doesn't require you to get shirty or anything but just state the facts of what has happened. Unfortunately there is one particular insurance company who are renowned for conveniently 'misplacing' claim forms!

Personally, I wouldn't post things these days unless you have taken copies. Most companies work paperless so if you have the facilities, scan the documents and email them. It's much easier and you can set read receipts and keep records of sent items so documents can not go missing!

I cant afford to , they have already agreed payment then ignored my appeal letter and placed exclusions that aren't relevant.Ive just noticed that the new documents have excluded all treatment from 30/4 but he has cover for year of claim sept 2012 . So frustrating

Will be following up with calls tomorrow ,emails are all in my inbox ,invoices sent from me and vets have all been ignored .Weird thing is one payment slap band in middle of assessment has been paid.
This isn't normal problem insurer who incidentally paid out on my last horse but new company who are supposed to be friends of animals lol

Oh, are they the ones who used to be linked to the 'other' insurer? They're not now but does sound like they have serious admin problems! To be honest, my sister had problems with the company her horse is insured with (I used to work for them and they were generally pretty good). It was frustrating as I really think it was just down to them being disorganised and maybe being a bit snowed under. Doesn't help you though when trying to claim!

Exclusions that aren't relevenat sadly sound like a company whose underwriters don't rteally have any horse knowledge at all and are probably going 'by the book' from some script they will have stating what exclusions to place when such and such a claim has occurred. Sadly, this type of insurance does require some more specialist knowledge but many will just have insurance brains NOT actually knowledge of horse conditions and what is related to what! Again, unfortunately this doesn't help you! Just persevere, you will get there.

Its not really rocket science when you have xray for kissing spines xray comes back clear then they exclude laughable really if it wasn't so frustrating.
