I would like to see him lose the crest before worrying about his weight loss too much. My laminitic is now back in work and doing well he is carrying less condition than Tango and now has no crest at all, it took a fair while to go down and he is now putting a little weight on without it going to his crest.

I feed soaked hay and Fast Fibre, he grows his feet at such a rate that I do not use anything to encourage them to grow faster, a small amount of FF would be ideal for your pony, it is very low in sugar and starch, you can build up the quantity as required and it could replace the HiFi as a complete feed, it is easy to add any meds to as well.

thankyou :)
the crest is soft and moves.. he'll never lose it always had it, he was cut late...6-8 yr old..i've had him 10 yrs...the pics arnt great, you can see hes fallen away along his spine.

I wouldn't worry overly, I'd say he could even lose a little more.

If you're concerned you could add a mugful of micronised linseed to his feed.

Give Nicola at Top Spec a ring. She is incredibly helpful, and very knowledgeable too.

I think it's important to feed a full ration of a very good vit/min supplement or balancer.
