Insurance company have accepted my LoU claim.

Spoke to the valuer last week. Paperwork arrived today. They're paying the maximum amount as all the vet reports, etc., state that a happy hack on a good day is what I'm left with. Can't have a foal either.

On the plus side, I still have the Dizz and we can still mooch about :D

D said I can have another horse, which is amazing of him, however I am going to wait. Will spend this year getting riding fit again, spend time with the Dizz and re-adjust my thinking.

Friend has offered me one of her horses to take to camp, which is an amazingly generous offer and made me cry (been doing a lot of that recently!). I'm going to see how timings and contracts (work) goes, and how I come to terms with what's happened re. the Dizzy one and Tiggy before her. It's very emotional this horse owning lark.

Oh, I won't jump Dizz again, at least not on purpose(!). Vet says if she breaks, that's it, broken and extremely unlikely that I'll get her right again. It's not worth it. Ditto for any high level dressage, so I don't know if we'll do any or not as I'm very competitive and whilst being restricted by skill is okay (that's not a known pre-set variable), knowing that no matter how good we are we'll never be able to take it to the top, is a blocker.

I am sorry Mrs M, I didn't realise the Dizzy was going through this. It does make you despair about horse owning in general, doesn't it? We went through the mill recently with my daughter's pony and I honestly felt like giving up completely. But you still have Dizzy and I do think its a good idea not to get another horse at the moment. You still have two cobs, don't you? But my sympathies, you really have been through the mill with Dizzy. Here's hoping this year is a better one for you.

Thank you :)

It's been an interesting three years. Having Tiggy, having all the problems and lameness with her, then losing her at four and a half. Getting Dizz two months later, almost to the day, then the lameness starting ten days later. Two years of 'is she right/isn't she right'. In a way now at least the decision is made. She's growing and maturing and becoming a really nice horse, one which I can get back on in two weeks and three days :D

So glad that you have finally got this sorted - not what you would have chosen, I know, but a result none the less. I hope she knows what a lucky girlie she is that you continue to enjoy her:) Onwards and upwards 2011:)

I know it's not what you would have chosen but I'm glad to hear that you've got the bureaucracy sorted out now and that you will get the full amount from the insurance company. That in itself must be a cause for celebration - it's pretty unusual!
And you've still got the Dizzy One. Enjoy her, in many ways she's a lucky girl.

I am glad the insurance company have at least come up trumps. It's a bit rubbish about Dizz but at least that's one thing you don't have to worry about.

And she is the most beautiful field ornament Mrs M. At least, if all you ever do with her ever again is gaze at her in the field, she is easy on the eye :)

I’m sorry to read you are going through all this with Dizzy, but as you say at least you still have her, to cuddle and enjoy, just at a slower pace. I’m glad the Insurance company are playing ball too, you can never be sure!

Fingers crossed 2011 gets better for you!

Sorry to hear about this MrsM - at least the insurance company are being nice and like you said you still have Dizz as a mooch about :)
We are going through the same at the moment with ours - query Cushings she's just been started on medication and the vet's given her 3 weeks to improve - its the waiting thats the worst!
Good luck in 2011 - lets all hope its a better year than the last!
