Just got my renewal through for horses insurance. Now 90 a month because of LOU.Thinking about stopping it but am wary as sods law if stop it will need it lol!!
Does anyone think it is actually worth having?

God that sounds like a lot! Mind you even insuring a horse with a low purchase amount is expensive these days. No experience of loss of use though. I didn't realise it would make premiums go up. The problem is that vets bills are so high that a claim for something not 'too serious' can run into thousands. Also you do need the public liability insurance.

God that is a lot. I insured my horse for less than hes worth, mainly to keep the premiums down as I was mainly worried about vets bills. My horse is insured for £2500, has LOU, vets bills, tack, 3rd party liability etc etc and my premium is £37 per month.
I toyed with the idea of removing LOU cos I thought mine was dear!! Im sure they said LOU was about £7 per month so I kept it.

Personally I would not bother with LOU. Usually they find some reason not to pay out anyway! I have just had this dilemma and the difference between insurance with and without loss of use was £40 a month!!!! Not worth it in my opinion, especially if your horse is not worth a huge amount - how many months of £70 a month premiums would it take before it added up to your horse's value?? That's the way I look at it anyway.
