I have just had a text from YM, donovan has lost a shoe in the field. he has had shoes on for about a year.
We are entered into a comp on Saturday, indoors, and also a drive on Sunday. I have not been in this position before, is it ok to do either of these with a shoe missing?

I would suggest calling your farrier and getting them out to replace the shoe. I wouldn't suggest competing with one shoe missing. These things happen and hopefully your farrier could come out today/tomorrow as it won't take them long to reshoe.

problem is my farrier has just been in hospital for a small op, but I have jsut left a message for him, maybe he is putting his work to someone else, I just dont know!

Ideally the farrier will be able to suggest someone who could refit the shoe (has the shoe been found?).

If not, as long as the shoe came off cleanly and left the foot looking tidy, I would personally do the indoor competition but give any road work a miss.
