Lost Markie today :(

So very sorry. What a beautiful horse. Give yourself time to grieve and don't let anyone else tell you when it is time to be over him. He will always be with you, but in time you will just remember the happy life you gave him and be grateful that you were brave and gave him a peaceful end.

Thank you for your kind words.
He had damaged something in his neck and was showing signs of neurological damage (in the simplest of terms, a broken neck :(). He didn't respond to the treatment as it was expected and I'm a firm believer in quality of life over quantity.
I'm going to miss the big man so very much

OMG, what a stunningly beautiful lad. My heart goes out to you, I am so sorry.

There is a Bach Flower Remedy "Star of Bethlehem" which is fantastic for grief and shock.

Sending you (((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) and may your lad run free.

Shysmum xx

Lost my boy too this week, agree 100% quality over quantity of life, you are obviously a great owner, and I hope all the kind words on this forum will bring you comfort x

You poor, poor, poor thing! I know exactly how you feel - I lost my beautiful fell pony in January with a brain tumour (he was only 8). It can make you feel angry that there are so many neglected horses that seem to survive and yet when we do the very best we can to love and look after our animals we sometimes lose them in totally unfair circumstances. The grief does get better and then it turns into happy memories. Be careful though about replacing him too quickly as for a while nothing else will match Markie. You need to grieve first.

I heard something yesterday "grief is the price we pay for love" - doesnt help right now, but it may help in the future.

God bless, so sorry i know your hurting, its the shock as well

God bless Markie

So sorry for your loss :(. That sounds like what my lad was lost to - although vet thinks a tumour/lesion in the neck. He was fine on the Sat and by Thurs lost all use of limbs :(. He only had one steroid jab, he was initially better then suddenly that was it - vet thinks the steroid might have accelerated the problem, but you cant tell.

**Hugs** Its so horrible to see them like that.

I am so sorry to read this what a handsome lad he was he will now be running around the lush green fields up above without them wobbly legs looking down on you.

Sending you lots of big hugs at this very distressing time.

RIP Just Marcus lad

I thought of you today when I got to the yard and my horse was poorly - really bought home what a terrible thing loosing as friend like that would be. I do hope you are holding up as well as can be expected this evening.

Paula

I'm so sorry for your loss, it always somehow seems worse when these things come out of nowhere and have such a tragic ending.

Hugs for you and RIP your beautiful boy
