Lost my beautiful boy today

My darling dog reached the end of the road today. He finally gave up the fight and we held him this morning whilst he quietly and peacefully slipped away. My face is raw from crying. I love you and miss you and wish this day had never come but you are free from pain and resting now sweetheart.

Thank you so much everyone for your kind words. Funny how a bit of kindness from a group of strangers on an internet forum gives some small comfort but it does. It's an acknowledgement of loss, so thank you. Have wept buckets today. I know I did the right thing but I'd give anything to have one last stroke of him.
