My dear Daisy dog seen here with my Mum went over the rainbow bridge yesterday. She's been struggling with her heath and needed to go over. I have had her 15 years, my Mum and I rescued her from a notorious "rescue" centre in Oxfordshire in 2010. She was covered in bleeding sores, underweight and full of worms but we couldn't leave her there, paid £40 to the criminal owner who was selling lost and stolen dogs and "rescues". A group of us campaigned for 2 years, against the RSPCA to get them shut down. The rspca ignored us, it wasn't until we got tv crews for the local news in there they actually did anything and raided them. 78 animals removed the first time (they re offended twice in years to come), appalling conditions, horses laying dead, cats, dogs and all sorts came out of there. The woman owner was put in prison for a year or two it was that bad. It turns out the rspca were supplying this rescue with dogs of their own they didnt have room for but that and our campaign was all hushed up of course and why I can't stand the rspca.
Daisy thrived with us and our 2 other dogs who have also sadly gone now. Mum loved Daisy and Daisy loved Mum, sadly she's gone too and Daisy will be the last dog I had from my original home in Caterham. It's the last kindness we can do for them isn't it and she will be with the others again.
Our little Jack Russell still living is called Bertie, he was Mum's dog and he and Daisy became in separable. Daisy would jump over the low wall out the front here (and why we had a 6 foot fence built) and Berts would follow her. They would go 100 yards up the lane to the fields and have a romp, rolling in fox and cow shit and coming back very pleased with themselves.
Yesterday after the dogs we have left (5) had all said their goodbyes and saw that Daisy had gone, I buried her in the garden with the others who have gone. Berts managed to get out and was found by my Son in law wandering up the lane , we think he was looking for Daisy as he hasn't got out and gone off since Daisy in her younger days used to lead him up there.
Very sad. Dogs grieve too.

Oh my goodness I've just had tears in my eyes reading your lovely tribute. Dogs are so precious aren't they?

I'm so very sorry for your loss Oz.

I'm so sorry to read about you losing your lovely Daisy. My goodness what a lucky dog she was!

I hope that things ease for you all soon and that you can look on all your happy memories with Daisy.

It's so sad to lose a much loved friend especially when they have a strong connection to others that have left us. I'm so sorry for that awful sense of loss but it sounds like Daisy and the others had the very best lives.
