As title and I still look on here everyday. I don't have a horse now and still have to see what is going on.

Pointless post, sorry.

Not pointless at all. We've sadly but probably all lost horses in the past. Unless you're a horsey bod It's impossibe to describe the big hole they leave behind. Chin up, chicken :o. Are you planning on getting another or leaving it for a while ?

Not planning to own. I couldn't go through that again and also because of my age, a horse would outlive me.

I am thinking of volunteering for RDA to get my pony 'fix'.

Thats a fine idea. And as for looking on here - we'll all benefit. Experience counts for almost everything in the horsey game. I've had some fantastic advice from here. Keep looking, keep posting and we'll all be better for it. ;)

My boy was PTS on Tuesday, I have decided to hang up my boots for good, as I can't go through the emotion of loosing another horse, I have had four PTS in under five years, but I will still come on her, as on occasions I think I do have things to offer, and the tv is so rubbish, you need something to do I the evenings.

I to am looking into the volunteering route, I work for myself but only part time,
I helped out at RDA when I was young with my MIL, and that is one of the areas I shall look into.

Just because we don't have horses anymore, doesn't mean you have to stop being part of the horsey world.

Sorry for your loss xx
I helped out at the RDA when I was younger and they allowed me to have one of the ponies as my own during the holidays when they don't get used.
I really enjoyed helping and would like to do it again in the future.

Not a pointless post at all,
I lost my horse in september and am not getting another, like you i couldnt go through that pain again. I still come on here to look through posts and comment if i feel i can help someone out, no harm in that. Plenty of people on here know what if feels like to lose a horse x

I'm sorry to read of your sad loss, (both posters)
It is true, there are lots of ways to be involved, from charities , to fence judging, and stewarding. The people who do this play a vital part, without them, competitions and charities wouldn't exist.
And although it is too hard to imagine now, you may one day in the future offer a home to a retired equine - that can be worthwhile too.
I hope you enjoy all your equine involvement, whatever it turns out to be!:)

My chap was PTS at the end of June, and I too am finding it difficult to adjust to life without a horse after owning Syd for 23 years. I am not going to get another horse for myself, but will remain involved through my daughter, who is about to start riding lessons.
I am still on here every day too . . .

I also lost my mare of a lifetime on 28-3-2013, I wanted to give up, and was going to sell my other mare, I had owned tara for 22 years and dolly only 18 months, im so glad I have decided to keep her, as I think it as kept me sane, even though i miss tara every single day.

Ah i lost my boy on the 22 of feb this year, my friend bred him i fist met him when he was 8hrs old he would have been 19 on the 28th of this month. I still look for him every day n i also thought of selling my younger horse who just turnd six if im honest some days i still do he is a great horse but is not lenard. I just know id be lost with out horses one day i hope to have that same bond with cracker. Still i have my dogs n cracker n life goes on. Rda is a lovely idea x its a great big gap n im not sure we can ever fill it x

RDA groups are always looking for volunteers, so that's a brilliant idea OP. Would you be able to offer a home to a horse/pony from one of the welfare associations? If anything happened that meant that you couldn't care for it, they would step in immediately.
