Prior to going away for two weeks (which I swore I wouldn't do again) I was riding 4 or 5 times a week and really coming on. My trainer even said that I should be ready for my first dressage test within a month or so (new to dressage). But now I haven't ridden for three weeks.

I have put some weight on since being away and now I just don't want to get back on. I can't find my mojo. This has happened before and so this time I promised myself that as soon as I landed I would go up and ride. I didn't and now I can't seem to get into a routine.

I have plans to get up early and ride before the heat in the morning but I just feel so super heavy that I can't. I am already telling myself I don't have to and that fatty mare doesn't mind blah blah blah.

Someone find my mojo for me?

Two suggestions;

1) Wait for it to find you! Mooch about up the yard, groom your mare, give her a fuss, do your yard jobs, sunbathe.... Wait for the bug to bite you again and don't put unnecessary pressure on yourself!

Or

2) Watch Charlotte DuJardin's freestyle test from the olympics, and prepare to get your dressage on :)

It'll come back eventually!xxx

It will come up. As said before, don't put pressure on yourself. Watch others ride and you will soon get jealous and want to hop ack on.

Good luck! x

I feel a bit like this tonight. New boy been coming on great, practically had to force myself to give him a day off.
He's now had four off in a row due to my new bathroom being fitted. It was sunny today (to rain tomorrow then back to work Thursday) so I really should have ridden... but I just didn't really want to! Feel so guilty :( don't want him to start losing fitness - now am going to need to ride tomorrow in the rain! If I can do it you can :)

Oh my goodness I am the same! I feel so unfit like a big unbalanced lump and am so tired and achey after schooling etc I just can't face it two days in a row! I need to get fit asap!

Maybe go on a riding holiday next time, so you are forced into riding all day and that will probably make you want to keep riding when you get back. It is only when we stop that we find it so hard to get back into.
If I lose my riding mojo I try to book a mini-break to Germany to visit my trainer there, and she puts me on 7 horses and shouts at me and then I'm fine! :P

I am so glad there are people that feel the same as me!!:o

I have ridden once since the 1st July  and I really can't get back into it. I have almost decided that I should just retire my mare and just look after and fuss over/groom her and my already retired pony. It seems a huge waste of money having horses and not riding, but without the pressure it should seem much more enjoyable. :)

Im going through a patch like that however, its been all summer I just dont really mind whether I ride or not. It doesnt help having 3 horses in a row all with problems.

Thank you for all of your words of support guys. I liked the idea of not putting pressure on myself and saying 'it's ok I don't have to ride'. Anyway as it went I got to the yard at about 8 and got fatty in for a groom and some love. When she was nearly done I just thought 'sod it I'll get on and go out for half an hour'. It was great although fatty was quite excited and didn't want to walk at all. I alternated between saying 'right you go on then if you want to go' and then holding her back in a walk. Although she was quite strong I was really smiling by the end!

Got back to the yard, untacked and was picking her feet out - she spooked as I had hold of her foreleg and she struck down really, really hard with her toe smack bang on the top of my foot. I whipped my boot off immediately as I knew it was bad and felt massive pressure. It literally ballooned before my eyes and my foot is a big round blue ball. Am now waiting in A&E. BLOODY HORSES!
