Lost my Shire to Founder

I'm so sorry, he looks a lovely boy. My horse is a 1/4 shire and I could hug his breeder, they have such lovely calm temperaments. Truly remarkable horses.

RIP Deacon

Another Story....at one of the fairs where Deacon was being "The Shire" a 13 year old girl came up with her mum and was talking about horses, that she hoped to get a horse soon and mum was nodding away telling me how she loved horses (no surprise there). It came time to do the parade of the breeds and I asked her if she'd like to show him to the crowd? Her mum nodded her OK and off we went, her leading Deacon through the crowds with me right next to her...and yes, I knew how he'd be. She's standing there in front of 800 people and it came time for her to trot him out 50 yards, turn him around, come back and stand there with him in the draft horse line-up. She did great! Her mum was sniffling away, smiled and told me her daughter was achingly shy and then said, "She's getting her horse". I could hear her school friends in the stands calling her name and "woohooing" to her. I told her to walk Deacon over so he could meet her friends...she was beaming while holding "her" horse. Several months later her mum later emailed me photos of her new horse, a very cute little grey gelding, part Shire.

Nothing earth shattering, just a story of a breed that makes people remember when all horses werenoble, huge and you felt protected when with them.
