Our beloved 5 year old lab Stanley was put to sleep this morning. he had been limping and it just got worse, so he had xrays today, and the vet rang and said he had a massive bone tumour. I knew it would be bad news before he went in.

Stan and Shy grew up together, would chase each other, and Stan always came out for rides with us. He was hopeless at flushing pheasants out, but taught Shy to carry a stick round with in his mouth (no kidding).

I've just seen Stan at Rainbow bridge. He was vibrant, eyes shining and his coat so shiny, tail wagging. I'm so happy he let me know he'd arrived. What the hell are we all going to do without him ??

I'm so sorry for your loss. Bless him, he looks to have been such a happy boy, and now he can be happy again. My dog, Tommy, was pts in March at the age of 12. whatever their age when they leave us, it is never easy.

That really moved me. What a beautiful dog and wonderful friend for Shy. RIP Stan, you must have had a lovely life to have such a happy smile.

{{{hugs}}} from me and the Polar Bear to you and Shy..I hope you are both ok as you can be, its never easy, just remember the good happy times, they will never go and he's still with you here when you close your eyes to remember x Glad you got to see him at the Bridge and he got there safe. Run free Stan xxx

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Xxxxxx Sending lots of hugs your way ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Big hugs to you it's a horrible heartbreaking time :(. We sadly lost both our GSDs last year within 8 weeks of each other one was inevitable as she had a degenerative disease and the time had come and the other was very very sudden due to a tumour on the liver. I still think of them everyday but know that they had a great if short-lived in one case (not quite 8 years old) and were very much loved xx

Thankyou all so much. In total and absolute shock, even though I knew it was very bad. I had to keep quiet about knowing he wasn't going to make it for hub's sake, and then had to persuade hubs that we had to let him go while he was still sedated. Very very tough.

But you know what, he saw us, his tail wagged continuously, even as he was having the jab. The house is full of black hair, I never want to hoover again. And Shy's ears pricked up when I told him, tho of course he already knew.

God this hurts.

Gosh that's made me cry! So, so sorry for your loss but you did the best for him. I am sure Stan is thanking you for caring so much and not letting him suffer. Hugs to you all xx

My Dalmatian had a condition that made him slobber terribly. We had dark oak doors in the house and there was a massive dried slobber streak on one of them that I noticed after he died. I left it there for so long (my husband, the clean freak didn't even have the heart to wipe it off) I hated having to clean it off when I moved house (we are silly aren't we).

I love it when I get old clothes out and maybe find a random hair of his on a jumper. He's still around even two and a half years later.

Funny how they get to us. x

I'm so sorry for your loss. :( Big big ((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) to you, Shy and Hubby. It's awful to loose a friend and he sounds like he was such a chaector to have around. Try to remember the good times. That is how he would want you to remember him. I'm shore he is greatful to you that you did what was best for him and didn't let him suffer. That is a sign of true love.

RIP Stanley, Run free at rainbow bridge. xx
