Hi, has anyone used Lotagen for treating or preventing proud flesh?

May horse was kicked above the knee on the inside of her fore leg while I was away and the stable did not contact me or do anything about it! It got infected and swelled. The infection has been treated with intravenous antibiotics and the swelling is limited to just around the wound but proud flesh is starting to develop.

At home I used Yellow Lotion mixed with a little bit of copper sulphate if needed and this worked brilliantly but I don't know what products to use over here. It's not bad enough to use copper sulphate but do need to start treating it to prevent any more granulation that will prevent the wound closing.

Thank you!

I'm using lotogen atm on a very nasty case of proud flesh. It is successful, but a long process in the case I am dealing with.

I paint it on with a paintbrush, and let it get to work, then I wash the area and bandage the dressed wound.

Hi there. About 18 months ago my Andalusian cut the inside of his hock down to the bone on barbed wire. The vet gave me a lime based solution (white and powdery) to squirt on the wound with a syringe when the proud flesh started to appear. It worked brilliantly, now he has no proud flesh and the hair has grown over, you wouldnt know he'd been injured at all! Unfortunately I cant remember what it was called but I'm sure your vet will know what it is. Good luck.
