oh my... what a horrible thing that is! my grandad had it, and he could be really miserable with it. I do hope it all goes well, and that she gets some relief for it.

((((hugs)))) and (((((vibes))))) going your daughter's and your way!

Big hugs and vibes to you both. I hope the operation is a success and that she gets some relief ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Hope the operation helps, OP. Fingers crossed for her.

For the MS, has your consultant told you about the new oral drug coming onto the market? It's being rushed through FDA approval. If not, ask him about Gilenia.

hugs for you and your daughter. ((()))xx

I'm guessing you have already discovered the Trigeminal Neuralgia Association on the net? http://www.tna.org.uk/

I found the site very helpful when I had a bout of TN back along.

Also, I do know someone who has had the same op as your daughter is having - he had suffered miserably for years but he said the op gave him his life back. Really hoping for a positive outcome for you and your daughter.

everything crossed for you! i was suspected to have Trigeminal Neuralgia last year and have only had slight pain in my face since but never ever wish to suffer with it again. no pain killer in the world works nor the maximim dose of diazipam would help me sleep through it. i hope she is more comfortable after the op. so many people dont know what it is. it needs to be made more recognised.

Phewwww shes all done and full of morphine at the mo,but it looks like it all went ok.Thanks so much for your support.
We wont know till middle of week if its going to cause anything else but up to now its all looking good

Oh, your poor daughter and poor you. Having watched my dad suffer with TN for many years, go through no less than three operations I know what you are going through. At its worse I saw him screaming in agony, morphine not touching it and when the pain subsided watching him lay there in his hospital bed not daring to move, noone to touch him, eyes like a window to his soul, showing him terrified and afraid, knowing the pain would return. It is a terrible, terrible condition, terrible for the sufferer, terrible for those who have to watch. One nurse ran out in tears, it was too much for her.

After being transferred from Chichester, my dad was operated on twice by Mr Sparrow at Southampton. His first op was either at Chichester or Barnet, I can't remember.

The operation, as I understand it, will not last forever and it can return, as it has done with my dad but is very closely monitored so hopefully he will never suffer like he once did. His face does have numbness and he often doesn't realise he has a bit of food on his lip. He has also lost his sense of taste but am unsure whether this is a side effect.

I wish your daughter a good recovery and you both have my sincere good wishes.

x

Very glad to hear the op went well. Fingers crossed that she recovers well and has no more pain. Just to say - I had TN and it is a terrible pain - hopefully your daughter will never experience it again - but just wanted to let you know that acupuncture was what cured mine. x
