Lots of Berries/fruit on the hedges!!

What does this mean? Does it mean a cold winter or a mild one?

What do we think?

Have been told it means a harsh winter, but cant be any worse than last yr!!
Old lady said to me last yr....holly bushes were covered in berries "gonna be a hard winter" i thought yeah right...it was right, lol!!
We best start picking and freezing berries for when we get snowed in,lol:D

What it means is that the long winter we have just had, delayed blossoming of fruit trees so less damage was done by frost.Unfortunately the cold winter and hot summer are basicly due to blocking fronts and if the pattern continues then yes it may well mean a cold winter. No clever planning by nature, just cause and effect.

It means I have snacks and dog training treats readily on hand when walking, as we are both partial to blackberries:D

It means lots of sloe gin to be made! Apparently it's been a good year for apples this summer due to the dry sunny weather and so consequently a good year for insects so lots of pollinators about...Maybe if there's lots of hedgerow fruits like sloes and blackberries about it's due to the same thing?
