Lots of rain but not cold?

So far we have had masses of rain . . . but it hasn't been too cold in the evenings. I've managed to sit in pub gardens in the evening without layers. Was a bit late with putting my rugs in for repair and there is a massive waiting time. So am just waiting for sods law to kick in - it will suddenly drop in temperature so that I end up buying a new emergency rug (especially considering money is tight) only to then get the rugs back within days of getting a new rug with a nice bill for all the repairs that have been done.

Am just hoping it stays at a steady temperature for another couple of weeks. I do have an emergency medium weight if need be, but considering he stays in lightweight most of the winter, I'm not sure I want to put it on so early.

How are yours doing with rugs so far?
 
I dont rug mine anyway, but yes, it is not too bad temerature wise. I think I suffer from the cold more than my horse ever would!
 
what do you do about riding when they're wet after coming in from the field? Let them dry off or just get on with it and ride?

I know a lot of people rugged on the day of heavy rain a couple of weeks back - am so glad I didn't know as it's not constantly raining and not that cold.
 
I've never understood the 'can't ride the horse is wet' thing - what exactly do people think is going to happen, and how does it differ from either the horse being sweated up or being caught out in torrential rain?! Has always baffled me. I just use a sweat scraper on them if they're soaked, if a bit damp tack up as normal. Obviously muddy under tack is no good in case of rubs, in which case I use either a hose or a bucket and sponge/brush to clean them off first.
