i had never heard of these futuritys until i came on this site. so dont really understand them, just wondered if someone could take a moment to explain to myself and anyone else who may not be familliar with them what the point of them is, what is done at one, and how experienced the judges are? so if someone could do a quick fools guide to futuritys that would be great!

sounds a bit like showing, i supose its quite good for getting a youngster introduced to an arena and crowd though. does anyone know what sort of people do the judging, are they professional riders who have experience of the three main equestrian disciplines?

Ooh you mustn't say it's like showing! !

I think the evaluators are mainly breeders. There are four evaluators at each event, & at least one will be at all of them to try & keep assessments consistent between the venues. I don't know if the same vet is present for each assessment, but the vets they select all have a background in equine practice.

Ciss on here is very involved with the futurity events, so she's the best person to ask if you have any more questions.

thanks for the reply, sounds interesting i will have to go and have a look at one and see what its all about. they seem very popular on this site.

Well there are certainly some users on here who have accorded the evaluations the same respect that Moses gave to the tablets of stone that the ten comandments were recorded on!!
