I have a love-hate relationship with Animal Watch's videos. There's some good stuff there, but she brings on dog owners that make you seriously wonder what they're doing with that kind of dog and why this is being promoted to thousands of watchers. This video, in particular, takes the cake.

Owner says "it's not a guard dog, it's not a protection dog, it's a hunting dog". It's also a dog-fighting dog, funny how he forgot to mention that.

Not that I want them to be PTS, but how has no one reported these dogs? They're the most Dogo-looking Dogos I've ever seen, and not exactly inconspicuous either, with the cropped ears and the shouting at other dogs going past. Besides, how do you get hunting line Dogos in a country that should be banning imports, and in a country that never had a need for this type of hunting dog (if these dogs are even hunting lines)?

The mind boggles.

It looks like something out of Jurassic park to me. But it won’t be a Dogo because its head is 2cm wider than the breed standard or something, so it’s perfectly legal.

Like the XLs: it can be exactly the same as a pit bull, bred from pit bulls, but much bigger, which means it’s fine.

Why banning breeds doesn’t work in a nutshell.

As for the video, which I haven’t watched because I don’t want to see it savaging something, this is glorifying a dangerous animal to imbeciles who will want one but have zero clue what they are doing, and the main instruction they will take away is that it should have its ears chopped off. Like prat drug dealers who want to buy a tiger.

Never heard of her/it!
She has two main types of content: conservation stuff primarily on apex predators, and videos on dog breeds, mostly guardian breeds and wolfdogs. The dog breed videos tend to look very clickbait-y, but they're not all like the Dogo Argentino video. She gets a mix of owners on, from anti-poaching dog trainers to bloke who can't really hold his Ovcharka, and the educational quality of the video tends to depend on the quality of the owner. Main message is to not ban breeds, but to set up a tiered licensing system based on how challenging a breed is to manage.

And what are her dog training credentials/practical or theoretical?

Why does she need dog training credentials? She's not a trainer, nor does she claim to be. She's just a presenter.

I dunno, it's this funny thing I have, if someone is talking to others with any authority about dogs, I kinda want them to know a bit about the subject.
I suppose Victoria Stilwell started out as an actress as well, before getting her qualifications.

That is why I didn't care for her Cane Corso video either.

Lovely breed (I have one) and the history is interesting (she did touch on that), but in the wrong hands/situation could be very well be dangerous. I also don't support cropped ears. I know that these dogs can have a lot of power, are a protector, and have a history of being a guardian, but I just don't like when people really promote the aggression. Or they make the breed and aggression too appealing.

I do not have a CC due to some other inadequacies in my life, but I think some people do flock to these types because of that. I'd never own a Dogo though.

There is a huge different between a CC and a Dogo. When I say 'these animals' I mean ones that are genetically too aggressive to even really be considered appropriate as pets in any way shape or form. I don't class the CC within that bracket.
I also extend that to any bite trained dog in the hands of amateur (idiot) owners, irrespective of breed.

I know there is a huge diffence! I've just heard people say it about CC's before or any other protector type dog. I didn't say that you said it in reference to a CC/CC owner. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I do think that some people do get a CC for the wrong reasons though, or perhaps due to other inadequacies. I've seen so much shite on Instagram that would support my opinion on that.

No worries. Just didn’t want you to think I meant you, or other responsible owners
