I hated them as I had a bad experience with an evil one
, but then I took one on loan and I wouldn't change her for the world, she's so quirky she's fab
. She's grey and it's funny because when I was a kid and I couldn't have a horse I always pretended I had a grey arab (loved the way they looked, didn't know about their temperaments), which is what I have now and she's my first horse really
I used to be OBSESSED with arab horses when I was a littly (it was Jinny and Shantih that did it) - not so much now but still have a bit of a soft spot

Same here Doorstopper!
I love them - very intelligent and loyal and will turn their hand to virtually anything.
Mine is an ex-endurance competitor who has (since she turned 20) learned to showjump and done some x-country! Hopeing to do some small competitions next season
I love them!, I feel very lucky to my Arab he is a superstar! We have a great bond and I have changed everyone at my yard's views on Arabs - he is 5 years old and he babysits the older horses on the yard when we go out riding! The joke at my yard is that he is a cob in an arabs body! People stop in their tracks to look at him 'snort and blowing' in the field when its race around time, with his tail in the air like a flag! I love the way that he runs towards me when he sees me, it is lovely feeling when you know that a horse wants to be with you! Not all arabs are crazy although some are I do not dispute that, but I feel they need careful handling as they are sensitive than other horses and generally get upset if they get told off!
Never thought anything much about them other than the usual "useless, but pretty twirling about on the end of a bit of string" - until I rode one.
Converted. Say no more. There is nothing like an arab, unless you talk to a fan of another breed or type.

Personally they're not for me, but I have nothing against them! The arab on our yard is a sweetie, although VERY good at using his tail as a whip....

I agree that is the only downside of my arab, getting whiped in the head/back when I am riding him from his swishy tail! I am glad I wear a hat as I probably would have brain damage by now - hang on thats probably why I love arabs so much - I'm brain damaged!
Love em, it was Jinny and Shantih that got me too, and I used to ride a chestnut arab mare.....
She was lovely to ride but a witch on the ground.
Used to ride a pure bred flea bitten grey mare too and she was the sweetest prettiest thing.
Sadly I think I'm unlikely to own one, I've grown a bit tall to be riding anything under 15hh now, and anything I buy will have to be shared with OH, and he really can't go below 15hh at 6'2"!!!
Oh and he hates arabs too......
he wants a PRE (in his dreams) so I guess when we buy that winning lottery ticket we'll have to have one of each.
I love them because they are beautifull! Plus I like horses with lots of character and a bit of attitude which most of the arabs I've met seem to have. My old boy is half arab and very sweet, also quite crazy but then I quite like this! ALso they are good to paint.

Oh my ... trip down memory lane there! I loved those books! Hmmm wonder if I've still got them anywhere, my daugther would love them.
I think they are beautiful to look at but very perceptive of moods and feelings so they prob wouldn't suit me from an ownership point. I still would like to have a ride on one though as they look like they float on air.
Love 'em. I have a pure bread polish arab on loan, an ex-racer. He is so sweet and kind and doesn't have anything nasty about him. I like the sharpness of their personality, the stamina, their intelligence and they way they show themselves off. Love it all!
