Had a lovely day in the sun today at the Lambourn Open day. Some great films coming for the website www.equischool.net including an exclusive interview with race horse trainer Harry Dunlop, an interview with race horse farrier Peter Baker, footage from Nicky henderson Barry Hills and Harry Dunlop's yard. The Kingswood Stud, parade of Champions including Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Long Run, AP (Tony) Mccoy, and Johnny Francome, schooling horses over the jumps before taking part in a show jumping puissance competition.
Horseball action also with Jockeys joining in with a match

Terrific, wasn't it. Long Run looked absolutely splendid, particularly when bucking his way up the gallops in the Parade; great to see Fontmort, what a star he is. The jockeys' performance in the horse ball, particularly Eddie Ahern's, was very impressive.

The only things I thought might be improved were the trade stands, which could be a bit "horsier" - a couple of saddlers, some decent clothes shops.
I suspect they'd all gone to Badminton instead.

Great day though. WOuldn't miss it for anything

Echo Daffodil's comments about Long Run and Fondmort and the horseball. A very good day and so pleased for them that they had good weather as so many people put so much effort into running it.

Long run was definately trying his best to show the crowd who was THE star of the parade:)
First time I had watched horse Ball live and it was very entertaining...Nice also to see the ex-race horses adapting so well to a life after racing. The Whitakers will not lose any sleep if they watch Tony Mccoy over today's jumps:eek:

I loved it too - an excellent day out. Good to look round the yards (especially Nicky Hendersons) and the 'puissance' was hilarious...... Top day out. :-)
