I had a lovely hack this morning, the sun was shinning, the birds were singing and more to the point Bert behaved himself.

Over the past few weeks he has become more and more of a sod, jogging, pulling, spinning, bucking........ TBH was losing the nerve to take him further than the school or round the village. I though it could be grass coming through, change of diet etc.

I adjusted his saddle this morning as I had changed the fish a month or so ago as it looked to be sitting to far down on him but think that the change may have been the problem......and took him out with a friend on a longer hack, on a new route and had the most controlled canter I have ever had on him!! Normally he is strong and pulls but he was a dream.

Cannot put my finger on what was wrong but I am guessing the saddle was niggling him and he was bored of the catch 22 I was getting in...not hacking far as he was naughty and him being naughty because he had switched off.

I am so pleased I have my nice horse back now and cannot wait to hack out for hours!

Glad things seem to have sorted. Do you fancy coming to mine and waving your magic wand at my girl? We are also having hacking confidence issues atm. I have decided to go back to basics and do some more schooling for a while and see if that improves things.

I wish I had one to wave.......

It is not a nice thing to have, confidence issues, I am not sure if the saddle of the change of scenery made a difference but I think a bit of both.

I only changed the fsh in his saddle as it seemed to look really low and thinking about it the issues have grown from about that time. Also with the weather I couldn't take him far and I think he was bored. The saddle wasn't a problem in the school so not sure I can put it down to that.

After changing his saddle his ears were forward and he seemed to have a thoroughly good time which made me relax. I did feel quite sick with worry before the canter but was plesantly surprised

I kept thinking of something posted on here the other day......
"what goes down the rein goes to the brain"

Hope you issues magically disappear to, it sucks the joy out of it all..... have you changed anything recently?

Oh that's right rub it in further as if this morning was not bad enough!! If it was not for the fact I want the ground to dry out further I would be wishing rain on both your heads!! (Tamara & you)
