As previous posts, have been bringing my 20yr old boy back into work after a year or so lay off, my fault not his and no health issues.
Been taking it slowly and worked up to 1 hours hack.
Yesterday went along bridleway and up small grassy hill and he broke into canter, (not really doing much trot yet). I felt it wold be better to do controlled canter rather than have a row so we did.
Carried on through bridleway and he was doing Spanish walk and generally 'showing off' to horses kept on each side of bridleway. Coming back was a whole different ball game, 'airs above the ground' more Spanish Walk and he was having such a good time.
He came back into yard really sweaty, he still has a lot of winter woolies.
I think I will work him earlier in the day so he has time to dry off before cold nights and work him a bit harder.
Pointless post really but am really enjoying him.
