Nice morning pottering round the yard, mum came down to meet Chance, tacked up and rode, only did 15 mins as it was so hot, gave him a lovely bath and pampering session then he and May were grazing, they absolutely love each other!

Popped to see my nanna in the afternoon, got back to the yard, both happily grazing as I unlocked/opened the gates then Chance went all funny and fell on the floor, then went flat out, I ran over, he looked wierd, ran back to my car for my phone and yelled to Janet across the road who came straight over, in the meantime May was going nuts round him and managed to kick him in the head while he was lying on the ground, it was awful, Janet called the vets, Chance tucked his legs under and was still laid down but looking up and neighing for May, blood pouring from his head - put May in the other paddock, sat with Chance, then he got up, really wobbly and un-coordinated, then his owner arrived, as the minutes ticked on he perked up and wanted to walk, so we headed back for the stable as the vet pulled up. She reckoned it was the heat and is coming back in the morning to sort his head out - Stayed with him till just gone 9pm, went round to mums for a brew then bobbed back at 10pm and he seemed quite perky, eating his net, had a good drink - and lots of polos!! Poor lil man, I feel so awful, May had only gone in with him today, the get on so well together.

thats not too good. sounded a bit like when a horse i knew got serious nettle rash. - went all wobbly and fell over. glad all is ok now!

Thats really strange, as we have a mare who did a similar thing.
She has been on box rest while she recovers from a sole puncture so she is doing 2x's daily hand grass walking.
My groom took her out quite normal then she just keeled over ( the horse not the groom!!

) and just lay there was right out of it for 5-10 mins , the girls got her in and then phoned the vet.
The only thing we could put it down to was the fact that the owner had come down late the previous evening after we had finished and gave her one of those big mollassed vit blocks which this greedy horse ( she eats her entire night ration of hay, half a bale, in 2hrs!) had eaten nearly half of by the morning!
Talk about an ignorant owner killing their own hose with kindness!! Thankfully she seems ok.

I hope your boy makes a full recovery soon, i'm sure he will. Poor chap, poor you.

Holy poo!

What caused him to fall down - do you have any ideas. (Which Janet - the one who has Arabs?) Lucky she was handy.

You have got the place looking smart btw. Super grazing - do you poo-pick, too? I'll have to nip down and see you all.

Try not to worry about it too much - it was probably the heat (mine are all suffering except my TB) and the excitement of being out with a new person.
The head wound doesn't look too bad either...keep it clean and it'll be fine.
Keep enjoying him!

Really sorry to hear that, I hope his head is better today. I reckon he may have had sun stroke of something

Oh how horrible for you Lisa

I am sure he will be fine, and you are not to worry yourself, remember, horses will always be horses! And the head wound looks prety neat and superficial ((((((HUG))))))

Just got back from the yard now, was so relieved to see/hear him neighing for breakfast this morning!! Cried, I was so relieved!!

Vet has been and cleaned and stitched the wound, left him and May in, he is still woozy from the sedative. It had gone down to the bone, they have put 10 stitches in, but she could'nt see any problems and said they would be back in 10days to remove the stitches!

Gilly, yes I do poo pick the fields. I had arranged to meet Janet anyway to go for a hack, she is the one with the arabs, it was nice to have some support there!

Definitely pop down for a brew and meet my new one - just hoping Katie does'nt decide to take him back now

Are you up for an outing to Somerford soon? I can now offically canter Pidge so if you want to go one weekend or even a weekday if plenty of notice, then let me know and me and sis will come and meet you there again? I'll just canter round while you and sis jump if that's ok with you?
