Anyone have any opinions on a 2nd hand one of these saddles ? It's a good fit and in good condition, priced at £475 but I haven't had or used one of these saddles before so just wondered if anybody knows them, thank you in advance !!

I like L&R saddles. Have had a few over the years & they have been really nice. Nothing fancy but just nice ordinary fairly comfy GP saddles.

Thanks Joss, I did find it comfortable, what do you think of the price ? It's in good condidtion, 17 1/2 inch, wide GP, I don't know whether to go for a new saddle, can't really afford it but ???

I think that price sounds reasonable. I sold my last saddle which was very similar to a L&R with my horse & I asked/got £500 for it.

If you are certain that this saddle fits your horse & fits you then a 2nd hand saddle is a great idea. New saddles are a bit like new cars and lose about 20 to 40% of their value the moment you buy them. Some new saddles take a bit of 'riding in' too so dont buy new just for the sake of it

Thanks again Joss, It does fit my horse well and I did find it comfortable it was just wanting to know that I wasn't being ripped off I suppose, I can't really aford a new saddle and when you think about it....What will a new saddle do that a 2nd hand one wont ?

Good saddles, will retain their value.Well worth what you are being asked.

Lovett & Ricketts are an excellent make. If it is sound and fits your horse correctly then go for it , get a saddler to check it over to make sure there is nothing you have missed and if it has been fitted to you and your horse by someone who is qualified to do so, then go for it, that is a good price to pay for L & R, Oz

i have a lovett and ricket event saddle for my mare. it firs her very well in good conditona nd very comfortable. i paid £485 for it second hand 2 years ago and if i was to sell it would wont roughly the same for it.

I also bought a Lovett & Ricketts event saddle second-hand - was brilliant! I paid £450 for it 9 years ago and sold it 2 years ago (new horse) for £300!! What a bargain! To be honest I'd never buy a new saddle. You could always try bargaining but I think yours is fairly priced.
