Which is the bulkiest feed you can get for a dog? My problem is that Susie the JRT tends to put weight on so is on an almost permanent diet but eats her tiny meals at the speed of light and then gets upset watching the other 2 eating their massive meals slowly and savouring every bite :rolleyes: I know one solution is to separate them for meals and I have started doing this but the poor dog seems to be permanently hungry so I'd like to find a dry food that allows her to have bigger portions.

At the moment she is on Chappie dry because that is the lowest quality I can find (yes, I know it's rubbish but she actually does quite well on it) and please don't suggest raw. It's something I am actually quite interested in but all of them get quite aggressive with bones etc and I'm not going to have that while I have a toddler in the house :(
 
I have another porker who's always on a diet....and puppy is likely to go the same way. I've found putting rocks in their food bowls has really helped slow them both down.

Jack is on Beta Light which I'm changing soon to Skinners, Beta isn't that 'good' but I liked the different sized kibbles for slowing him down. Now I know the rocks work I want to put him on a better quality food as I don't have to worry about the kibble size. The puppy is on fish4dogs but will probably end up on the same as him for ease.
 
How big are the rocks? I'd be terrified she would eat them seeing as she tends to swallow her food whole without chewing - she even eats wormer tablets like this lol
 
Do you know if Chudleys light is any good? Might give the rocks a go tonight and see what happens **trots off to measure Susie's gob and find suitable stones**
 
Will probably cause shrieks of horror nowadays, but when we were trying to get weight off our Lancashire Heeler, we gave her a small amount of food bulked up with coarse bran. This was actually suggested by the vet, and seemed to do the job, she had a more substantial meal than the tiny amount of food she should have had, but the bran did not put weight on her.
 
We tried a different tack and discovered James Wellbeloved Large Kibble - the pieces are very big, maybe an inch in diameter so they can only pick up one at a time and have to chew them. Worked for our bolter!
