I came off my horse last night. Pretty sure I've busted my coccyx. But took me a long time to get up and back to normal due to feeling faint. My heart rate I noticed was scarily low! I've googled and googled and can not find anything from falling or incidents that can cause this.
Does any one know why this happened? It felt like a heavy beat every three seconds - I even checked my neck pulse to see if I was tripping about it! Very strange. Was so faint for a long time and couldn't keep vertical for more than a few seconds due to it. Any input would be appreciated. Feeling a bit better today. Although I'm going to struggle with sitting for a while :/

Sounds like something my mum went through, it was low blood pressure, her blood pressure used to drop out and gave a heavy heart beat. Also had a few palpitations along with it.
Get yourself plenty to eat and drink today! If your not feeling better by the end of the day, get it checked ?

I think shock causes a low heart rate. Low heart rate can also be attributed to a potassium imbalance which can be caused by sweating too much and not getting enough water on board. I would suspect its a combination of both but if it happens again or you still don't feel right you should go to A&E.

The adrenaline surge from a fall can do all sorts of weird things. I went to A&E after my last fall because I got a weird visual disturbance (the edges of my vision became kind of crystalised, like looking through fly eyes!). After ruling out anything nasty the doctor said it will have been the adrenaline surge wearing off (it started about an hour and a half after the fall).

I would suspect adrenalin for your symptoms but I'd probably want to speak to a medical professional about it?

That sort of thing happens to me after a fall or shock. I sit still, relax for a bit and have a long drink of water. Then get up, see how I feel and if still not right I sit still a bit longer. Usually goes away and I crack on regardless. If it concerns you then a call to GP or 101 will sort you out. Hope you feel better. It's not a nice feeling.

Pain can cause low blood pressure but I would want to rule out a head or spinal injury in this instance, and I never go to A&E unless totally necessary.

I most def. wouldn't be driving, friend came off her horse, hurt the bottom of her back but seemed OK. A couple of hours later was driving a few mins home and blacked out totally, crashed into an oncoming car and wrote her car off. Not sure if it was just the pain, a minor concussion or delayed shock but it could have been even worse than it was.

My friend's horse had a touch of colic the other day, I couldn't get hold of her so I rang the vet and stayed with him. The vet said he had a low heart rate and said sometimes pain and shock can do that - the normal reaction is a raised heart rate but it can drop too. I'd keep an eye but not worry too much as long it doesn't happen again.

I get this too. And super (super!) low blood pressure.

I fell down the stairs a few years ago. Hubby called ambulance (mortifying!) because I kept passing out. They insisted i go to a and e (doubly mortifying) because my heart rate and blood pressure was really low. The consultant took one look at me and said “she gave herself a fright, she’s grand” (end of mortification).

Thank you all.
I ended up having to call NHS my ribs started giving me serious jip.
I think like above it was adrenaline / low blood pressure / slight shock from the pain that caused the strange heart rate.
Long story short from hospital. Broken coccyx and a broken rib. Not too worried about heart rate and my head didn't hit hard.
I can't move that well but already trying to figure out when I can get back on.
Thinking a good while with the coccyx ?
Worst fall in a wee bit. I preferred it when I was younger. I bounced more on the landing ?

I hope its not going to be a new thing if I fall off I need to sit fot half an hour. That would be rather embarrassing if out and about. Luckily I was at home this time

My blood pressure is naturally low so it does not take much to make it very low .
You where probably suffering from shock but you should ring the NHS helpline .

I'm glad you got checked out and that the heart rate was "just" a response to your injuries and pain/adrenaline. I'm sorry that you're hurt though. Heal well. Rest as much as needed.
